Last year when I had my three week placement, there were a number of issues that came up. Within the first week and a half I was told that I needed so much improvement that I would not be passing my placement. This news would cause most people to give up, but I am determined to fulfill my dream of becoming a teacher and that is why I have come back to retake this course. Though I found out that I would fail this placement I continued to show up to try to improve my teaching.
The last day of mine and my partner's placement we took thank you cards to the staff that we spoke with almost every day. We shared with some of the Educational Assistants how I would not be going on to my internship in the fall. I said that I am a semester behind the Middle Years family that was created by the section of 32 amazing individuals I was able to see almost everyday. One of the Educational Assistants told me something that I keep in my mind every second of every day and that is, "You are not a semester behind, you are just taking a different path to get to the same destination".
This is the thought that I had running through my head when I was told to consider switching faculties where I would still get into a career that would have me work with children and their best interests in mind. All I have to say to that is: I believe that I will become a teacher and I will make a difference in students lives.
I will work my hardest to better the areas that need the most work, in order to reach my goal of becoming a teacher!
