Aleah Willner's Resume
Introduction
My name is Aleah Willner, and I have recently completed my Bachelor of Education Middle Years Degree. I grew up in Davidson, Saskatchewan, where I was involved in many extracurricular activities that included volleyball, basketball, drama, SRC, and the school division’s leadership team. I think that the experience that I have had on these teams will allow me to create and maintain teamwork strategies in the classroom.
I decided to enter the Faculty of Education for Middle Years Education because I think that this is the age group that is often thought of as the troubled group, but I think that they just need some guidance as to how they need to portray themselves in the community that they are a part of. I feel that working with this age group can influence students in a positive way. I recently started classes to obtain my certificate in Inclusive Education because I feel that many students are not included in regular classroom life because they are not seen as able to participate. I want to have a classroom where all students can be involved in part, if not all, of the class work with their fellow classmates.
My internship allowed for me to learn different ways that I can organize my learning space, to learn how to effectively manage my classroom and students, and to observe what other ideas I could add to my own thoughts on teaching. It was a great opportunity to see the structure of the class and to develop the skills I will need to effectively run my classroom.

-What Makes a Good Teacher?
One quality in a good teacher is someone that students can look up to. This is important because students should have as many good role models in their lives as possible and a teacher is someone that they see almost everyday so they should be someone their students strive to be like. A good teacher should also be someone who is easy to communicate with and can explain different topics adequately to their students. Even if there are only a handful of students who do not understand something, a teacher should work with them in a group during class to explain it to them or make time outside of class to help. Another quality in a good teacher is the ability to have patience at all times, even when it is extremely difficult to do so. A teacher should also have good disciplinary skills but still remain a friend to their students. Another skill that a good teacher should have is organization and an eye for detail. A teacher should be enthusiastic about teaching their students and what they are teaching their students. I feel that a good teacher should make learning as fun as possible for their students by doing projects that would not normally be done. For example, have students take on the role of a person in different social classes to learn about hierarchy or make a social networking page on an element in chemistry and have the students list different details about that element. If there are any questions from the students, the teacher should be prepared to answer them in a way in which the students can understand. These qualities in a good teacher are important because they make learning better and more fun for the students.
