How Beverly Changed the Past
It had been a long day at the office. Beverly had been working on a huge project and her head was spinning like crazy. She was just attaching the last wire to the hydro-electromagnetic force drive (HEMDF). They connected and blue sparks burst out around Beverly.
“Ow.” She said as one burnt her toe “Ok everyone prepare for the drone.”
Two other scientists handed Beverly a flying baby helicopter and a remote control. She took a small camera and attached it to the helicopters. She flew the small thing through the small electro-magnetic field, suddenly a picture appeared on the screen to the right. The drone was in the office only it was in the past!
“It worked!” scientist Tina yelled. Everyone rejoiced, clapping and hugging each other.
Beverly had butterflies in her stomach as she clipped her backpack on and stepped onto the ramp.
“Chevron 8 encoded.” Sergeant Adam called “Chevron 9 encoded.” There was a sudden blue blast and the blue electro-magnetic field opened.
“Ready whenever you are, Beverly.” General Wakeford called. Beverly stepped into the field and was zapped through the time continuum.
Her eyes opened and she saw a yellow bolt hit her hand. Pain surged through her body and then everything tingled and went black. When she woke up, Beverly was confused, she looked around at a small room. The walls were painted a pale blue and the bed she was lying on was a soft cot covered with a yellow comforter.
She was surprised to see a girl about age 6 years old standing in the doorway. The girl turned and yelled down the stairs.
“Mommy, the lady is gone. She must have climbed out the window.” Beverly was very confused.
“I’m right here.” She told the young girl. By now the mother had come up the stairs. Both were looking at the blank bed, very confused.
“I am very sorry young voman but ve cannot see you.” The mother told her. Beverly looked down and realized she couldn’t see her body… she was invisible!
“Um, I did get a yellow hydro-electromagnetic shock when I came through the… I mean that I did get struck by lightning once. I better get going but thanks for taking care of me.” Beverly said.
Before the family could answer Beverly ran out the door (not that they could see her leave or anything). As she ran down the streets she saw posters promoting the war. That means that it was 1939! The thought didn’t accure to her until now but she had nowhere to stay in this time period. In fact she didn’t even know anyone in this time period.
She walked down the street and watched innocently as Jews were taken from their homes and roughly loaded into vehicles. She knew that for lots of those people this would be their last experience with fresh air. This broke her heart, the thought of how many thousands of people would die in the next five years. She put her hand out almost as if she was reaching to grab one Jew that she could save, she was shocked to see a blizzard of snow come out of her hand and knock out three Nazi Guards. She tried again to put out her hand only this time leaves swirled around her feet, lifting her into the air. A third time she put out her hand and rain splashed, like a sprinkler out of her hand.
At that moment Beverly realized that the bolt she saw hit her caused her cells to change, she now had mutant cells. She was technically a superhero! She could use seasonal weather and invisibility. She needed a superhero name, and the only thing she could think of was Seasonal Invis! She now knew why the machine sent her here. She was needed to save the Jews and change history.
She heard guards coming and immediately realized that the only way to save the Jews was to get inside the camp. She rushed over to a house with a sign on the door perfect. She rushed in and found a small Jew family.
“Excuse me, please I need your help! I need a jacket or something that will make it look like I am a Jew. I promise if you give something to me I will free your family from these horrible people” She told them. The family understood and quickly threw items of clothing in her direction. Within seconds they were satisfied with her looks but one thing was missing.
“In order to fully look like a Jew you must change your name. I have a perfect name: Aalijah, it means The Lord is God. Variant of Elijah.” The father told her
“Take care and be safe.” The mother said.
When Beverly walked out the door she was quickly approached by a guard. It worked she thought. She told the Nazi that her “name” was Aalijah, and that God was the father of all his children. He grasped her arm and yelled “One over her, female.” She was tied up and put in a vehicle pack with about 30 other people. All were pale, skinny and shivering. She handed her warm jacket to a boy near her whose was only in a t-Shirt, he thanked her and quickly wrapped it around his boney shoulders.
When the truck stopped she looked round and realized that she was in Auschwitz, one of the concentration camps. She was taken to a cell wearing special clothes and in pain. This process continued until Beverly was so weak she could barely stand. She was through with this nonsense, she blasted through the cell door, froze all the guards and stomped down the hall. There was no way anyone could catch her, well that’s what she thought anyway. Three guards surrounded her and before she could blast them they shot her with a sleeping dart instantly she was dazed and soon she was asleep on the floor.
When she awoke she found herself in a cell with five other people. She looked around and realized that this was high security and that there was no way to get out the door it was bolted shut and had laser strings attached to the inside. Her cellmates introduced themselves, their names were Abbey, James, Nellie, Peter and Wayne.
Also the nails that were holding the AC vents on were electrical so if you touched them they would give you a high electric shock. Every day they were taken to get punished for being Jews this was a painful process considering they were starving.
One afternoon after their punishment Wayne and Beverly went to a corner of the cell to discuss a plan.
“We need to escape. The others are much weaker and I am for sure certain that Jamie won’t last much longer with that terrible cough.” Wayne said.
“Agreed, we could go through the air vent on the ceiling but we would have to get the nails out without touching them.” Beverly told him.
“Well that’s easy, all we have to do is find a sharp tool to cut the bars with. We could get one from the guards.”
So the next day when they were taken to get there punishment Beverly pretended to trip into the guard and used him as a “balance” for herself and she grabbed a sharp miniature saw from his belt. She shoved it in her pocket, and stood up straight.
“Sorry about that sergeant.” She told him flakily
“It better not happen again or you will be in trouble, I think. I-I think t-that H-Hitler w-w-would be, um, upset.” The guard stuttered.
When they returned to the damp chamber Beverly used the saw to cut the bars. She then proceeded to stand on Wayne’s shoulders and climb up. He tossed her the saw and she started to climb further into the long, narrow vent. She followed the vents left, right, right, left, left and found herself right above Hitler’s office. At the moment he was talking to another guy about how he was leaving Auschwitz for the next day but would return the day after that.
This was perfect Beverly thought because she could call upon the Canadian Army to come help. She made a perfect plan and then headed back to the cell. She explained to the others that she would use her invisibility to sneak out of Auschwitz, she then would use her time machine to go to the present day and get the army to come in and take over. At first her cell mates were stunned but then they realized that they had no choice and that if this worked millions of innocent Jews and soldiers would live. They agreed to it and decided to do their best to help. They quietly thought of a distraction to knock the guards off balance.
A few minutes later the guards came to give the group a small portion of food. Beverly turned invisible and hide beside the door. Wayne “tripped” and spilt his food and juice all over the guards, as he apologized Beverly slipped out the door quietly.
She walked down the hallway, almost laughing as she passed guards and they didn’t even notice her. She exited the camp and proceed to walk right out of the small city. She climbed back through the small gate and was zipped through time into 2016.
“Hello, Beverly, we weren’t expecting you for three more days at least.” General Wakeford said.
“Sorry but plans changed, I guess. I need a huge favor of you.” Beverly said
“Anything for you, our star scientist.”
“Thank you sir, but I need some sort of an army to come back to 1939 with me. We have a possible chance to catch Hitler. I know where his office is and if we catch him we can stop tons of people from dying!”
“Seriously? How many guards are covering the area?”
“There are 4 in front of the cell, 7 as backup, 10 in the punishment room, and I’d say about 50-60 besides hat so I would send about 100 men.”
“I understand, I’ll prepare the troops with my best men.”
Later that day Beverly and 99 other people left 2016 and travelled through the time. Beverly explained her plan to them, they needed to stay in hiding while she returned to Auschwitz. In two days’ time they would leave he camp at 500 hours and invade the camp. They would get Beverly out of the cell and then 88 of the 100 would take over the camp while Beverly and the other 11 would capture Hitler
